'I had been a member of a big chain of leisure clubs for ages and just fancied a change. I had trained with a number of trainers there but never worked with anyone longer than a couple of months and I was feeling really demotivated, very out of routine and had possibly resigned myself to staying the same weight and shape for the rest of my life (bar the occasional regression!) It was a horrible feeling, but I'm never one to give up so I decided to at least fake being positive and try again.
I met Adam as he was setting up his gym in Reading town centre and he offered me personal training and also a gym plan. He looked at my food diaries and we experimented with various things. When I started with Adam my confidence was low but I was gradually encouraged to believe in myself. I guess whats really happened has been a very gradual change in my mind set and a real self belief coupled with some determination and effort. We have kept to a varied training regime, I have kick boxed, we train outside, I will go to the odd class, I will train myself and I now also go running with my friend. I even did a 10k race a couple of months ago and finished in just over an hour. I would never have dreamed of doing that. My body shape has changed in many ways, I am certainly leaner and have lost about 5 inches off my waist and I have dropped 2 dress sizes. I feel very positive about my image and enjoy dressing up and going out.
One of my biggest challenges is the fact that client entertaining is a big part of my job, I probably take people out to dinner or lunch 3-5 times a week, however again with Adam's advise I have been able to make the right food choices. I won't tell you that this process has been easy for me, there have been many ups and downs and crisis points and there are times when I wonder if I can fit my gym work in to my day on top of my commute, but I take advantage of my days where I work from home, I make appointments to meet Adam and also Adam is flexible with me. I have struck a good balance between calories in and calories that I burn and I have started to think of my weight and body shape in a logical way. Its really working for me and I am looking forward to my summer holiday, to wearing a bikini and to training for the rest of the year'
